The present study was designed to assess the efficacy of L-MP to treat BMI in patients with BMI ≥28 kg/m2.
We conducted a prospective, open-label, multicenter, cross-over study of 1,125 obese patients with a BMI ≥28 kg/m2 who were admitted to the general practice hospital, Dhaka Hospital, Bangladesh from February 2007 to December 2013. The participants were randomized to receive L-MP (n = 188) or a placebo (n = 187) to treat BMI ≥28 kg/m2 with orlistat for 1 week. All participants were enrolled at the Department of Medicine at Dhaka Hospital and were enrolled in a parallel group trial. The participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire after their admission to the hospital. The patients had a BMI of ≥30 kg/m2 and a body mass index (BMI) ≥28 kg/m2 with a body weight of ≥40 kg/m2 on the third, fourth, or fifth day after admission. The participants were divided into two groups: a L-MP group receiving L-MP and a placebo group receiving placebo. After a 4-week washout period, the patients were admitted to the hospital after their admission to the hospital. The participants underwent the same study procedures as patients without a history of obesity. The participants in the L-MP group were given 5 mg/day of L-MP and the participants in the placebo group were given 20 mg/day of L-MP. Xenical capsules can be taken with or without food. However, if you take it with food, you should take it until you feel well. Take Xenical exactly as it was taken when you were advised it was started. If it’s almost time for the next dose, take that dose as soon as you can. However, if it's almost time for the next dose, you should wait at least 4 hours after taking Xenical before taking another dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a lost dose.
You should not take Xenical if you've ever had an allergic reaction to orlistat or any of the other ingredients in Xenical. Xenical cannot be used in people with a history of any other heart conditions, including heartburn.
